USDA To Fund Food Assistance For Children

The Illinois Department of Human Services declared that the United States Department of Agriculture is funding Illinois’ Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer or P-EBT, a program designed to assist families with children during the pandemic. P-EBT is providing $112 million in food benefits to eligible families with children in school. The IDHS measured the supplementary benefits as $5.70 per child per day. Benefits will be added to current family Link card owners automatically and families who currently do not receive SNAP benefits can fill out an application for the P-EBT. Families who are eligible for the P-EBT can expect to receive the supplementary benefits April 20th – April 30th.
