Nick Cannon shot an episode of MTV’s Wild ‘n Out at the Renaissance Coliseum at 8 pm on Thursday, April 7. Doors opened at 7 pm, and the performance started at 8 pm. Tickets were available at the Student Activities Office, which is located in the basement of the Student Center. Tickets for students were either $1 in cash or free with a donation of a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Peoria Food Bank. All seating for the performance was general admission. Students were not allowed entry to the concert without a valid Bradley ID.
The weekend of April 2 was a big weekend for all types of music lovers with the iHeart Radio Music Awards as well as the American Country Music Awards. Both awards shows were packed with awesome performances, and many talented people taking home awards.
At the iHeart Radio Music Awards, Taylor Swift took home Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Tour. Justin Bieber took home Male Artist of the Year, and Fetty Wap took home Best New Artist. For the American Country Music Awards, Chris Stapleton took home Male Vocalist of the Year, New Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year. Miranda Lambert took home Female Vocalist of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year. Kelsea Ballerini took home New Female Vocalist of the Year, and Jason Aldean was the Entertainer of the Year. They were both great shows.
Anna Bailey, a second year medical student at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, has created an art show fundraiser to help incoming students purchase essential medical equipment. Students are required to purchase certain medical equipment that can be very expensive, and this fundraiser helped offset some of those costs. The Art in Medicine fundraiser featured paintings, sculptures, dance and song performances, and other art. It was April 8 at the UICOMP building in downtown Peoria from 6 pm to 8 pm, and refreshments were provided. The event was free and open to the public, but they accepted donations.
