Track & Field Teams Dominate in Carbondale

The Bradley University Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams set the bar high on the weekend of March 26 at the Bill Cornell Classic in Carbondale. Sophomore Michael Ward won the Men’s 1500 meters with a time of 3 minutes and 45.7 seconds. The Men’s team had 4 runners finish with the top 5 times of the event, none of which breached even a 4-minute mile. Freshman Sara Piller finished 1st in the Women’s 5000 meter with a time of 17:56. Two of her fellow teammates finished within the top five times as well. Sophomore Hannah Witczak finished 2nd in the 5000 meter with a time of 17:59, improving her career best by 22 seconds. Sophomore Nicole Alfano finished at 18:30 to round out the top 5 times of the Women’s 5,000 meters for the outdoor season opener. On the field side, senior Elizabeth Dutcher recorded her career best in the Javelin. Dutcher finished 2nd in the event, throwing 36.62 meters, making her Bradley’s best throw since 2010. Both the Men’s and Women’s teams prepared for the San Francisco Carnival, the Stanford Invitational, and the Eastern Illinois Big Blue Classic the following weekend.
