The social media site Twitter just celebrated its 10th birthday. From famous people such as Presidents to Popes and normal everyday people, virtually anyone is able to use Twitter; the variety of people and topics written about makes it so interesting. So many iconic moments have occurred through the use of this site. An interesting fact is that until Twitter came along, the pound sign on phones was just a weird button. Once Twitter was invented, so was the #hashtag. Another invention came along because of Twitter: Live Tweeting TV shows. The first live Tweet happened back in 2007. Twitter has already done so many great things, and we can’t wait to see what else is in store.

The Peoria Civic Center announced that they are exploring the possibility of transforming the corner of Fulton St. and Jefferson Ave. into an urban park to host outdoor events year-round. That location was used this past winter to feature an outdoor ice rink and ice slide and was very successful. The Civic Center would like to host more events such as concerts at the space. Be sure to check back with us for updates on this project.
