Washington Pantherettes Perform Dance Routine Inspired by Tornado

The Washington Dance Team, also known as the Pantherettes, performed their competition routine during halftime at their Boy’s Basketball game on Friday, February 19.

The lyrical competition routine tells the story of the 2013 tornado that destroyed and damaged homes and property throughout Washington. Four of the girls on the team lost their homes to the tornado. The dance portrays a sense of loss, darkness, and confusion, to then hope, light, and strength to represent the tornado and the community coming together afterwards. The Pantherettes placed 3rd at the Illinois Drill Team Association State Competition on February 13. They will also be performing on March 18 for March Madness at the Peoria Civic Center as well as at the Pantherette Showcase on March 20 at Five Points Washington.
