Peoria Looks to Compensate for Parking Ticket Debt

Parking TicketThe city of Peoria announced this week that they have nearly $1.9 million in unpaid parking tickets.

The city’s treasurer, Patrick Nichting, announced plans to implement a debt recovery program.

This will allow the local government to collect debts such as unpaid parking tickets, with an added fine.

If tickets go unpaid after the later indicated deadline, the amount can be withdrawn from someone’s state tax refund and even paychecks and lottery prizes.

Parking tickets administered from Bradley Police are not included in this recovery program, but students with parking tickets within the city are urged to take care of those immediately, especially before Winter Break.
