Rainy weather in Seattle was cause for cancellation for the Bradley Softball team’s opener at the Husky Classic against Kent State on the weekend of March 5. Not until after a 90-minute delay did they finally take the field against Seattle at 9:30 pm. Despite the late start, Bradley senior Kendall Duffy drove in the lead-off, Kelly Kapp, with a triple to right field. Kapp was named Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week with a standout performance. Bradley continued to hold Seattle off until the bottom of the 3rd, where they grabbed a 3-1 lead. Bradley sophomore Erika Hansen made a shining comeback, contributing a solo home run and later tying the game 3-3 with a double to left for her first day back in the starting lineup in 14 games. The Lady Braves would score again in the top of the extra inning but could not shut out the Redhawks in the final stretch. Bradley fell to Seattle 5-4. Congratulations to Kelly Kapp for this week’s Country Financial Recognition!
