Charlie Sheen is HIV-positive.
On November 17 in an exclusive interview with The Today Show’s Matt Lauer, the “Two and a Half Men” star revealed his 4-year diagnosis.
Sheen explained he has been treated since his diagnosis and his status is currently undetectable.
The Golden Globe-nominated actor admitted he paid off numerous individuals in order to keep his secret about his HIV-positive status but claims that any sexual partners he has had since his diagnosis were forewarned.
Many fans as well as members of Sheen’s inner circle were positive and supportive following his announcements.
But some are less supportive, including former partner Bree Olson, who said in an interview with The Today Show immediately following Sheen’s announcement that his status was never disclosed to her.
Sources such as Slate Magazine applaud the TV star for his willingness to come out as positive and argue that his status as an HIV-positive straight male could change conversation regarding the stigma of HIV and AIDS.
