State Representative John Cabello said that he plans to file a lawsuit against Governor J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order claiming that it defied his original authority of having the state-wide lockdown last only 30 days. Cabello began to make plans for the lawsuit when Governor Pritzker ordered the release of about 3,900 inmates from Illinois state prison allegedly due to COVID-19 concerns. Cabello states, “I’m not the one that has unleashed over 50 murderers on the population early. If he wants people to follow the law, maybe he should start with himself.” Cabello says that due to the lockdown, big businesses such as Target and Wal-Mart are able to stay open while small businesses must remain closed. “I’m not trying to put anybody in harm’s way here,” Cabello said. “I’m just wanting to see some of this stuff start making common sense.”
