This past Tuesday about 10,000 masks were donated to hospitals across the Peoria area with more on the way from the Peoria Chinese Association. The money for the donations was raised by Chinese residents in Peoria who used their contacts in China to bring the products to the U.S.. Donations were sent to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, the Peoria Police Department, the Peoria Fire Department, the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria and UnityPoint Health Methodist along with four other locations. Sunny Sun of the PCA board said she spent countless hours on the phone ensuring the shipments were coming as quickly as possible. She says, “We are part of the community. We want to do something as much as everyone else. The United States is our first home and our second home. We live here and we are a part of it.”
