The Bradley women’s volleyball team had a rough week, winning only 2 of the past 11 sets.
On Friday, the braves were swept in 3 sets as they faced off against northern Iowa. The panther’s diverse attacked allowed their hitters to attack the braves with unpredictable accuracy as they racked up 50 kills. Bradley’s hitters on the other hand were stoned with blocks, as Kelsey Cave led the team with just 9 kills.
Bradley then proceeded to faceoff against drake on Saturday.
In the four set match, the braves fell 3-1. The hitting of Drake outmatched Bradley by a 61-51 margin.
Last night the braves faced off against Loyola and fell 3-1. While playing better offensively than the other games, Bradley was beat down by Loyola’s offensive power. The braves will play on Friday and Saturday at home against Illinois State and Indiana State this weekend.
The bradley men’s cross country team ran in the pre-nationals hosted by indiana state
Last saturday. The braves placed 8th out of 41 teams. Among the teams the braves beat were two nationally ranked squads. Junior michael ward led the team with a 16th place finish overall. His teammates were not far behind with a team total of 314. The women as well as some men who did not travel to indiana state competed in the bradley classic the day before. The women took 4th out of 31 teams in the classic. The women were led by hannah witczak as she finished with a career-best time and the eighth-fastest time in school history in the 6k. The men and women look to build off of their strong performances as they travel to the illini open friday.
The story for the braves soccer team this year has been, well, losing games. The braves last win came on September 20th with a win over western Illinois. The braves entered their game last night with a 2-9-3 with a 0-4-1 record in the conference. The braves hosted Omaha at Shea stadium and the story of the season continued as the braves dropped the ball, losing the match 4-0. The braves look to stop the cold streak as the travel to SIU Edwardsville on Saturday.
The Bradley hockey team split games this weekend while playing away at Wisconsin-Platteville. On Friday the braves fell 7-4 in a goal heavy game. After Kyle Tintera evened the game at 4s, the pioneers responded by scoring 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd period to bury Bradley. Saturday was a different story for the braves however. Defensemen Austin Dempski opened the scoring in the first only to be answered seconds later by the pioneers. Bradley rebounded then preceded to score 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd period to put them up by a 4-1 score. Osborne would make 25 saves, as he remained perfect on all but one shot. The braves will play at the Owen’s center this weekend against Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Friday and Saturday for another two game series. Puck drops at 6:45 and remember, a rowdy crowd is allowed, and encouraged.
