Bradley Professors Awarded Generous Grant From The National Science Foundation

It was announced last week that Bradley’s associate professor of game design Monica McGill and assistant professor of interactive games and media at Rochester institute of technology Adrienne Decker have been awarded a 1.19 million dollar grant. The grant comes from The National Science Foundation to study the long-term impact of computing activities students engaged in before entering college.

The study will be conducted over 5-years on k through 12 students that have an interest in computing. They hope to understand the past and current state of affairs of all activities that focus on teaching computer science prior to college. The professors also say a large part of the study will focus on the demographics of the learners, hoping to find what works for sets of learners in underrepresented groups.
