This coming week is Thanksgiving Break.
We were able to get some information about the reasoning behind small Thanksgiving and a Fall Break.
We talked to Andreas Kindler, who is a Registrar Administrator.
He believes that we have a Fall Break as a way to allow students and faculty to have a mid-semester break and have a few days off for Thanksgiving Break, instead of just one week for Thanksgiving.
The academic calendar changed around 1971, where there was no Fall Break and Thanksgiving Break was the mid-semester break, followed up with a short two-week Winter Break.
For those who want the full week for Thanksgiving Break, it looks like students would have to sacrifice Fall Break.
Our semester is a 15-week semester compared to most schools which have a 16-week semester.
The way our semester runs, there would be no room for a shorter Fall Break and a longer Thanksgiving Break.
