The honorable Bradley alum Ray LaHood, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, spoke about his memoir, “Seeking Bipartisanship: My Life in Politics” on October 1 at 7pm in the Hayden-Clark Alumni Center at Bradley University.
His memoir provides a personal perspective from the alumnus who served both in Congress and in President Obama’s Cabinet.
LaHood spent 14 years in the U.S. House of Representatives after being elected in 1994.
Within his first term in Congress, he was named a “Freshman to Watch” by Congressional Quarterly, a highly-respected publication on politics and news. President Obama also described LaHood as an “outstanding public servant” when he appointed him the 16th Secretary of Transportation in 2009.
This event featuring Ray LaHood was sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Bradley.
It was a great opportunity for students to learn from someone who was once sitting in the same position they are, just many years ago.
