Ever wonder how it\u2019s like running your own small business as a college student?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s like they live the best of both worlds of having to brand themselves personally and professionally. While being a Bradley Student, Sophomore Jay Rivera decided to start expanding her Nail business as she saw progression in her work and loyal clientele.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI started doing nails before Bradley, it was always a goal of mine to do it for others and not just myself. When I got to Bradley, I started small with just doing nails for my friends and people in the same dorm hall. With word of mouth, I was able to expand it.\u201d said Rivera.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was never her intention to be able to make this hobby of hers a business but she stuck through it as she admired the process of meeting new people while enjoying her passion for nails.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDoing nails at the end of the day is my passion and I do not look at it as a job, I look at it as me having fun.\u201d said Rivera.<\/span><\/p>\n

She has envisioned many goals for her business to keep growing as her main priority is her professional brand. She was excited to see where her business would take her as she saw many new clients in and out the door.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA goal that I have is to work on how others view my business\u2026What others say about you is a very important thing because in general word of mouth is the biggest way to get yourself out there.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only does Bradley\u2019s campus have a nail technician on campus but also a business for customized cups like Starbucks Tumblers and even keychains. Freshman, Marie Hattermann from Peoria, IL talks a little more about her own small business on campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As she was inspired by her family to start her business, she knew that it was beneficial as a student to have something to have as a side hustle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy dad is an artist so I grew up with a love for art\/crafting and wanted to express my creative side and love with others! It\u2019s also very flexible with school because you are your own boss!\u201d said Hattermann.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When first starting out a business, it may be intimidating figuring out where to first begin the process and how others may portray your business. But for Hattermann, she was sure to think ahead and only look out for herself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy advice is honestly just to GO FOR IT and do not worry about what anyone else thinks! For so long I contemplated starting until I did and never once looked back! And all the hard work will pay off so never give up even when it gets hard!\u201d said Hattermann.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Overall, being a college student and running a business is inspiring to see on Bradley\u2019s campus. This would motivate others to try to follow their dreams as it may be the next small business on campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
