The Greek life organizations\nthey are used to are becoming modified. These changes are thanks to the\nInterfraternity Council, also known as IFC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interfraternity Councils are seen at many college campuses,\nused to regulate parties to make sure students are safe, and to oversee the fraternity\nchapters on campus. While many students don\u2019t approve of IFC because of the \u201cfun\u201d\nthey take away, they are creating these changes to ensure the safety of\nstudents in the Greek life system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bradleys IFC not only regulates parties and oversees the fraternities, but they also annually partners with the Panhellenic Council and the National Panhellenic Council to generate programs like Greek Week, National Hazing Prevention Week, Greek 101, and all-Greek philanthropy and service events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Isaiah Harlan and Russell McCormic are two students who are\na part of the Interfraternity Council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harlan, the IFC director of Philanthropy, explained that\njoining IFC is a way for him to help contribute to the continuation and prosperity\nof Greek life on Bradley\u2019s campus. \u201cSince coming to Bradley\nI have always been very passionate about being involved on campus. I have\nalways believed it is each person\u2019s responsibility to leave a place better than\nwhat they found it and being involved at Bradley is the best way to leave a\nlegacy for those who come after you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For McCormic, being involved with IFC gave him the\nopportunity to gain leadership roles. \u201cThe\nInterfraternity Council posed a unique opportunity for me to enter into a Greek\nleadership role that had a larger and more immediate impact outside of my own\nfraternity,\u201d said McCormic, IFC director of judicial affairs. McCormic went on\nto explain how he had heard of some mistakes previous IFC members have made and\nhe wanted to make his own corrective mark in Greek life at Bradley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While annually, Greek life numbers have been declining three\npercent nationally, IFC board members believe Greek life can sustain itself at\nBradley University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harlan discussed the measures fraternity and sorority life is\ntaking to ensure Greek Life grows and is sustained for years to come. \u201cSome of these positive strides include very strict\nzero-tolerance anti-hazing policies, proper education of chapter risk managers\nand leadership teams, taking hardline stances against sexual assault, and\ninstituting preventative policies against drug and alcohol use to ensure the\nsafety of all members and guests.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the Interfraternity Council may be seen as the bad guys, they ultimately want to raise awareness of how exciting Greek life can be, while encouraging safety on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McCormic ended by establishing the connections he has made\nthrough IFC and how it is vital resource for any interfraternal communication. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past couple of years, Bradley University\u2019s Greek life members have been noticing some changes around campus.
