{"id":2271,"date":"2019-04-26T00:58:42","date_gmt":"2019-04-26T05:58:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/com.bradley.edu\/newslab\/?p=2271"},"modified":"2019-11-26T17:42:30","modified_gmt":"2019-11-26T23:42:30","slug":"a-look-back-at-the-2018-2019-braves-mens-golf-season-a-farewell-to-the-seniors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/com.bradley.edu\/newslab\/2019\/04\/26\/a-look-back-at-the-2018-2019-braves-mens-golf-season-a-farewell-to-the-seniors\/","title":{"rendered":"A Look Back at the 2018-2019 Braves Men&#8217;s Golf Season &amp; a Farewell to the Seniors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>by Colin Alger, Ben Line-Neumann and Jack Simzyk<\/em><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bradley Braves men\u2019s golf team finished fourth at the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championship this past Tuesday, which means that they will not be advancing to the NCAA Regionals and that their season has come to an end. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Although the Braves didn\u2019t repeat as MVC Champions, the overall feeling within the team is that the season was successful and that there is a lot to be proud of. Senior, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Drake Bushong (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/bradleybraves.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10779\" target=\"_blank\">Drake Bushong<\/a> said, \u201cThe fall went really good. We had a lot of good scores and set a lot of records. The spring was plagued by rain, so that made it a lot more difficult, but overall it was a good season.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior,<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bradleybraves.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10785\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Michael Mounce (opens in a new tab)\">Michael Mounce<\/a> said \u201cI think we had a great year, despite how conference ended. I think we had a lot of positives and I think next year will be the same.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were plenty of highlights throughout the season, including: senior, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Daniel Lensing (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/bradleybraves.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10782\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Lensing<\/a> picking up his first career individual win, the team winning the Zach Johnson Invite, <a href=\"https:\/\/bradleybraves.com\/roster.aspx?rp_id=10781\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Charles Jahn (opens in a new tab)\">Charles Jahn<\/a> finishing top three at the Ryman Intercollegiate and Drake Bushong finishing up his historic Bradley career. Along with all these highlights, many players have their own personal, individual highlights from the season. When asked about his, Mounce said, \u201cMine was probably my first round of the whole season when I shot six under. I thought that was pretty cool and it was my favorite moment I\u2019ve had walking off of the course.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bushong took time to stand back and appreciate the entire season as one whole moment. \u201cI would say the whole season in general (is my favorite moment). Going to each tournament and just kind of knowing that it\u2019s going to be your last at each course, and kind of enjoying it that way.\u201d Bushong said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Head coach, <a href=\"https:\/\/bradleybraves.com\/coaches.aspx?rc=2086&amp;path=mgolf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Jeff Roche (opens in a new tab)\">Jeff Roche<\/a> pointed out the team\u2019s special bond with one another and that not all season highlights happen on the golf course. \u201cThe wins and all that were exciting, but I think that a lot of our highlights were things that didn\u2019t necessarily involve the golf course. We enjoyed being around each other and hanging out.\u201d Roche said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2018-2019 season ending means that the Braves men\u2019s golf team will be saying goodbye to four golfers. Drake Bushong, Daniel Lensing, Branden Mounce and Michael Mounce will all be graduating Bradley University in May, which means that this season was the last in their Bradley golf careers. Michael Mounce explained what it was like to be able to play with his brother the past four years at Bradley. \u201cGolf is something that I think we\u2019ve both enjoyed and that we will continue to enjoy. We\u2019ve been with each other forever and we just enjoy competing against one another.\u201d Mounce said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bushong reminisced on his golf career as well. \u201cStarting back in my senior year of high school, I just wanted somewhere to go where I could play right away, gain experience and things like that. I don\u2019t really think about the records or anything like that, I just kind of went out and played golf, and at the end of the day things happened and that\u2019s still how I view it. It\u2019s all the result of hard work.\u201d Bushong said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael Mounce and Bushong both had final statements that they wanted to share as well. Mounce said \u201cI would just like to say thanks to everybody.
