Most citizens in the city of Peoria are all familiar with the Peoria RiverPlex down on North East WaterStreet. The fitness facility is equipped with state of the art, premium fitness equipment for members. However, the treadmills, recumbent bikes, and other machines are not the reason why the Peoria RiverPlex is home for many in the community. This fitness facility serves a deeper purpose for than just staying fit. It is home of several health amenities and other programs that change the lives of people throughout the Peoria community.

The Peoria RiverPlex is more than just your average gym. Although the RiverPlex offers its members high-end fitness machinery, they provide there members and members of the community around they pay more attention to their members. The welcoming community environment of the RiverPlex is just one of the many aspects that makes the recreation center a top facility in the Peoria area. RiverPlex is home of other life changing health amenities, they have a joint wellness program with OSF hospital here in Peoria Illinois.
Not only can a person become a member to the Peoria RiverPlex, they can become a member of the medical exercise program offered through the Riverplex. The relationship with OSF has created several programs that benefit both OSF patients and members of the community. OSF has worked with the Peoria RiverPlex to help find successful programs and classes to help community members achieve fitness and health goals. The Medical Exercise Program membership is there to help members with illnesses’ such as heat disease and diabetes begin a safe workout plan. The OSF Wellness Services staff is there to provide direction in creating routines for members, answer any medical questions, and teach members ways to begin their healthy lifestyle changes.
The wellness center is also working with members of the RiverPlex through personal training. The new personal training studio comes with highly educated staff members who are there to offer services that help members become educated and motivated to change there lifestyles. Not only do RiverPlex members receive basic training, they work with individual nutritionists and wellness trainers to find the healthiest, most effective plan for reaching fitness goals. The RiverPlex believes in creating healthy, successful lifestyles.
In order to create better lifestyles for the community, RiverPlex works to provide youth camps and scholarships to members within the Peoria community. This facility works through the Peoria Park District, in order to gives out finical assistance to those who qualify in the park district.

Peoria Park District wins awards for outstanding performances
The Peoria RiverPlex has contributed to the community’s successes in many aspects. With the help of the RiverPlex and the programs that they support, The Peoria Park District is home of three National Gold Medal Awards, the highest honor attainable by a park and recreation agency. The awards are presented annually to communities within the United States that represent outstanding volunteerism, resource management, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development, and agency recognition.
