Through excellence in the organization’s five founding principles, Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. provides opportunities for lifelong empowerment to its members, thereby positively influencing the global community.

The four new members of Bradley’s Sigma Lambda Gamma performed a short routine on their initiation night, marking their first-ever appearance as a Gamma.

#71 Captain: Alexandra “Yolitli” Salgado

#72 Deuce: Alyssa “Ketnalí” Garcia

#73 Heart: Julissa “Aloítlani” Lopez

#74 Anchor: Jaylah “Suveraxti” Walker

“Being a Gamma to me means you’re taking the initiative to become a leader, a woman of distinction, and a positive influence on other women around you as well,” Sophomore Jaylah Walker said. “You’re learning to become an even better version of yourself.”

Sigma Lambda Gamma’s mission statement is to empower women to lead the world. They provide opportunities to create lifelong friendships, positive influence, and impacts within the global community.

Seats were filled as students watched the performance and initiation. Pictures and videos were taken to capture the memorable night.

“I decided to join the sisterhood because from the very first event I attended, they were always extremely welcoming and made me feel like I had a home away from home with them,” Freshman Julissa Lopez said.

According to the Gamma sisters, the presentation was very special because of how amazing this group of girls is and how they cannot wait to mentor and grow alongside the new baby panthers.

The special neophyte presentation fit Sigma Lambda Gamma’s reputation for being a unique, out-of-the-ordinary sorority, according to a few of the Gamma leaders.

“We hold events/activities on Campus that promote the principles we were founded upon. We are involved with events during Hispanic Heritage Month, we hold fundraisers, and an annual Empowerment Banquet,” Freshman Alyssa Garcia stated. “Overall we try to promote inclusion and awareness on campus and create a safe place for the underrepresented population on campus.”

With 117 undergrad entities, 1342 active undergrad members, and a large community of alumni, there are a variety of ways to get involved and teach other women how to empower each other through leadership. http://sigmalambdagamma.org/our-history/

Sigma Kappa Sorority shows support for greek unity at Bradley University by attending Sigma Lambda Gamma Probate as they are revealing their new members. This probate was the first of many Sigma Kappa members to see how Sigma Lambda Gamma has their ceremonies and were happy to attend and learn how valuable their new member reveal is.

Following the presentation, on Tuesday at @5:30 PM, the Gammas hosted a meet and greet for the new members at the Garrett Center. This event was a way to get involved, play games, meet new people, and see what the Gammas are all about. This event was a night of fun competitive games as they were welcoming the Neos to their chapter.

Following the Sigma Lambda Probate, this chapter had an event called “Meet the Neos”, where they played competitive games to get to know more of the new members. It contained a day of fun to introduce the new members to the chapter.

Both events had a high attendance rate, from all different genders, nationalities, and sexual identities.

We are seeing more variation in diversity in Greek Life, and with these events being open to all students of all demographics and backgrounds, the Gammas are living up to their mission statement.

“I believe that being a Gamma is upholding our principles, as well as being there for all sisters,” Julissa Lopez said. “Being a Gamma is constantly putting in that hard work to represent the sorority.”

Sigma Lambda Gamma Neos (New Members), greet all sorority and fraternity chapters that have attended their probate where then each chapter gets to do their call/chant. The greetings end by doing the famous Gamma Call as they are greeting their own chapter and everyone cheers as they are excited to see the new neos.
