Finding a job as a student isn’t easy. This is why many students are choosing to DoorDash rather than get a typical hourly paying job.

Food delivery has always been popular among college students without the access to a car. Now that Covid exists, even more people aren’t leaving their house to get their own food, creating job opportunities for any student with a car.

Many people have found that they are able to make more money DoorDashing than any other job they’ve had. With one tip amounting to what would usually be an hour’s worth of work, the choice to DoorDash is easy for most.

“Sometimes we’ll get 10 or 15 dollar tips, and that’s pretty insane because some people don’t tip at all. When you get those tips it kind of makes your day,” student DoorDasher Chloe Taylor said.

DoorDash pay is reliant on DoorDash base pay, which varies depending on the time, distance, and desirability of the restaurant, promotions and customer tips. Drivers can also choose which orders to accept and decline, ultimately controlling their income. The busier it is in the area, the higher the base pay gets.

Regular jobs tend to require time that a lot of college students can’t commit to; however, DoorDash allows students to set their own hours.

“I started DoorDashing about a month ago, and honestly it was just because I’m a broke college student, and I needed an easy way to get money,” Taylor said. “It’s nice because I can pick my own hours with school.”

DoorDashing also provides its employees with a relaxed working environment, allowing them to ride with a friend or listen to music as they work. Another student DoorDasher, Frank Pellegrini, added that delivering the food requires little effort, and the customers are what can make or break the delivery.

“Some of the customers are rude, but that’s to be expected. Humans are rude sometimes, so it is what it is,” Pellegrini said. “The good balances with the bad; you get good customers and bad.”

Overall, DoorDashing is what you make it. If you’re interested in DoorDashing, make sure you sign up with a friend’s referral link for an extra bonus. It’s easy, convenient and has impressive pay for busy students.
