Late-Night Bu is a monthly event put on by the students of Bradley University and held in the Markin Recreation Center. Along with this the event usually hosts food from restaurants found around the area. For this Late-Night Bu it was Avanti’s, a local Italian Style restaurant found just a few minutes outside of campus. Usually at the end of the night pizza will be brought in and it is usually delivered from Papa Johns. To go along with this, a DJ is usually brought in to play music while students enjoy the festivities. A handful of activities and games are brought in to really give the students a fun and memorable experience.

At this particular Late-Night Bu, it coincided with siblings’ weekend so, there more people there than usual. With all that in mind it seemed like all the stops were pulled out for this particular event. Some of the events that were held at this Late-Night Bu include a cotton candy machine, a stuff animal making station were people could pick out an assortment of different animals and decorate and stuff them. Other events included a few competition stations that featured games like an inflatable axe throwing station, a log rolling station and a station were student try to race each other up an incline to hit a bell. Lastly a petting zoo was even brought in for the students and their siblings. Some of the animals that were brought in include a couple of baby goats, hedgehogs, a snake, some birds and an assortment of different bugs and spiders. All in all, there were a ton of options available for students and siblings to have a great and fun filled time.

Of course, under the current situation events like these aren’t being put on anymore and Bradley University has gone fully online for the rest of the semester. Hopefully looking back at the great events and experiences the students are given through Late-Night Bu it can not only inspire hope of what to look forward to when things go back to a more normal time but also to provide happy memories for some during this trying time period. Late-Night Bu is a stable of the Bradley experience and hopefully next semester everything can get back to normal and events like these can again be put on to provide entertainment and social involvement for students.

To go along with this, Daniel Kerns, a freshman at Bradley University, was asked what his favorite memory from Late-Night Bu was and he said “For me its during welcome week when that particular Late-Night Bu has mostly freshman and it allowed me to meet some friends that I still talk and hangout with.” Josh Mogg, a sophomore at Bradley University was asked what he missed most about the Late-Night Bu events “I definitely miss the social aspect that comes with Late Night. You know after a hard week of courses it’s definitely fun to come to Late Night and chill with friends and enjoy some good food.” Braeton Richardson, a sophomore at Bradley University was asked what he thinks Late-Night Bu means to the students. He answered by saying” Honestly it’s a good way for some students to take their mind off of classes for a while and just hang out and have a good time.”

With everything and everybody being in a type of quarantine it can be hard to imagine a time when people could come together for big social events but hopefully as time goes by, we can slowly start to get back to a more normal life and enjoy events like Late-Night Bu again.
