Bradley University students share their experiences with Bradley University’s safety and health resources. The Bradley University Police Department is one of them, and one of the students had a connection to an officer who works there.
Erin Lingenfelter, a sophomore art education major, has never spoken to an officer. She was somewhat aware of the resources BUPD provides in conjunction with Bradley.
“I feel like I can find them, but I haven’t been properly notified.”
She said she would have to do research to find out who to contact and what numbers to call.
Another student, Dainaly Campuzano, was aware of the resources provided to her. She has even attended Bradley’s counseling, which is provided to students free-of-charge.
“I was not a fan of it because I felt like it was just a checklist and [they handed] me a whole bunch of paperwork that I would have to sort through and basically self-help myself.”
Dainaly is a junior, majoring in both biology and psychology. She is also an Assistant Resident Advisor in Harper Hall, and has received training on safety procedures.
Heather Yepsen, a senior mechanical engineering major, was very aware of the resources provided to her as a student, as her mother works for the BUPD.
“You can call dispatch… and they’ll direct you to an officer and they will take a report of the incident… You can even go straight to them and I’m pretty sure you can email them, too… You can easily get ahold of them.”
